The flow cytometry facility at MIVAC consists of a range of instruments, and a number of users of these instruments. The facility thus provides access to flow cytometers and cell sorters, as well as to a growing expertise in advanced flow cytometry methodology.
The facility does not provide any dedicated sorter operators, but access to cell sorting is given either on a collaborative basis (FACSVantage SE and FACSAria) or following training of interested users (FACSAria). Access to the analysers (FACSCalibur and LSR II) is provided after a short initial training period.
Expertise in a wide range of methods is available within the facility. These methods include intracellular cytokine staining, assays for proliferation in vitro and in vivo, assays for apoptosis and cytotoxic cell activity, analysis of antigen-specific cells using tetramer staining, intracellular phosphoprotein analysis and fluorochrome conjugation of monoclonal antibodies. Expertise in advanced cell sorting is also available, including sorting of rare cell populations from difficult sources such as human mucosal biopsies, high-speed sorting, single-cell sorting into cell culture dishes, etc.Contacts:
